Welcome

Writing has for me, over the past few years, become something of a passion. The idea that a small amount of ink diluted down with a little imagination can serve to change a person’s life in such a positive way inspires me to record my adventures in this medium.

Along with the spoken word it is still, I believe, the greatest way for us to communicate with each other.

I can remember several years ago listening to a presentation given by the well known sea kayaker Chris Duff, on his circumnavigation of New Zealand’s south Island, he spoke with such a passion and gave such a vivid description of his experiences that he sparked a fire in me to explore the oceans of the world by sea kayak, its a flame which still burns strongly.

The pages of this website are meant as a display case for my writing as well as highlighting other expedition paddlers and their own adventures.

 Sea Gypsy

 I am an Ocean paddler I journey on the sea, to the distant blue horizon where adventure beckons me.

Around that gnarly headland and beyond the outer break, across that stretch of water,  open crossing I shall make.

I travel in good company; they say ‘not less than three’ so me, myself and I….I take.

An unholy trinity!

I seldom do get lonely, out on the Ocean blue, I’ve seen a hundred different creatures, some just passing through

I paddle across the ‘Briny’, one thousand souls beneath, in Davey Jones’s locker lays my nations wealth and grief!

As I begin to close the gap and draw upon the land, I look beyond the ocean swell to where it breaks upon the sand.

With a gentle shove from Neptune I am surfing down the wave, no more arduous paddling, my energy to save.

As I sit upon this distant shore and watch the sun descend, my journey isn’t over, the journey never ends!
